About Dr. Shu

Steven Shu, M.D., MBA , MS is a board certified, procedure-oriented family physician with broad medical knowledge and clinical experience who provides a wide range of services above and beyond the typical family medicine.  He is the top proceduralist in the country who does almost 3000 office procedures every year.  On top of his clinical work, Dr. Shu is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Minnesota and on the medical staff at Southdale Hospital and North Memorial Hospital. He teaches office procedures to resident physicians every week.

Over the last decade, Dr. Shu has consistently promoted the concept of procedure-oriented one stop care. He strongly believes in the numerous benefits of office procedures, including the low cost, convenient, efficient, one stop and high quality care. He performs the following office procedures using cutting-edge, state of the art technology:

• One Stop hemorrhoid care: Infra-red coagulation (IRC), banding, and hemorrhoidectomy
• One Stop endoscopies: colonoscopy, gastroscopy. nasolaryngoscopy, and sigmoidoscopy
• One Stop vein care: sclerotherapy, phlebectomy, and endovenous laser ablation
• One Stop skin cancer care and other common skin surgery
• Cyst removal: sebaceous cyst, ganglion cyst, pilonidal cyst, and Bartholin’s cyst
• Breast biopsy: fine needle biopsy and simple open biopsy
• Partial anal sphinctorotomy for chronic anal fissure
• No-scalpel vasectomy
• Ingrown toenail removal
• Lipoma removal
• Joint injection
  

Dr. Shu also strongly believes in community activism. He was the founder and the first president of the Minnesota Chinese Physician Association (AMCP) and is a current honorary president. In 2004, he led AMCP members and community volunteers in establishing the Minnesota Chinese Health Center (MCHC), a free clinic for needy Chinese in the Twin Cities. Dr. Shu is also publisher and president of MN Duowei Times, the largest Chinese newspaper in Minnesota.
